Team Assignments

Middleton Youth Lacrosse Club (MYLC) assigns players to teams in a manner that promotes fair competition, skill development, and a positive experience for all participants, in full compliance with Badgerland Lacrosse Association (BLA) rules. This policy applies to all age levels and ensures balanced teams where multiple squads exist.

General Guidelines

  • Balanced Teams: When MYLC has more than one team at any age level (typically occurring in 8U and 10U, but potentially in 12U and 14U as the program grows), all teams at that level are created equal. No "A" or "B" teams, or divisions based on experience (e.g., first-year/second-year), are permitted on the BLA schedule. Assignments are made based on factors such as age, skill level, and overall balance to establish a "level playing field."
  • Additional Tournaments (12U and 14U): If roster numbers exceed 28 players at the 12U or 14U level, MYLC may form additional tournament teams for 1-2 extra events beyond the regular season. Tournament rosters will be selected based on availability, skill, participation, and attendance at practices and games, with the goal of maximizing competitiveness while providing development opportunities for all players. Regular season teams remain balanced per BLA rules, and tournament participation does not affect primary team assignments.

Assignments are finalized by the club board or designated coordinators after registration closes. Families will be notified of team placements via email. This policy supports safe, equitable play and may be updated as needed to align with league guidelines.

Friends & Siblins

Middleton Youth Lacrosse Club (MYLC) strives to create balanced, inclusive teams while considering family preferences where possible. However, to maintain fairness and compliance with Badgerland Lacrosse Association rules on equal team creation, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be honored. This policy outlines our approach to friend and sibling requests during team assignments.

All requests are reviewed confidentially, and decisions are at the discretion of the board of directors or youth coordinators. No appeals will be considered after teams are announced. This policy helps foster friendships while ensuring competitive balance.

Sibling Placement

  • Siblings in the same age group will be automatically rostered on the same team to support family logistics.
  • If a family prefers siblings to be on separate teams, they must notify the club during registration or contact the applicable youth coordinator before assignments are finalized.

Friend Requests

  • Players may submit one friend request during registration.
  • Requests are considered only if mutual and submitted by both parties during the registration process. (e.g., Player A requests Player B, and Player B requests Player A).
  • While we aim to accommodate where feasible, priorities include team balance, skill equity, and overall program needs. Not all requests can be fulfilled.
