Parents Code of Conduct
The Middleton Youth Lacrosse Club (MYLC) follows the USA Lacrosse guidelines for parent conduct to create a supportive, safe, and positive environment for all players. This code outlines expectations for you as a family member, including encouraging your child to play fairly and focus on growth; modeling respect for coaches, officials, players, and other families; communicating concerns appropriately after a cooling-off period; and prioritizing your child's well-being over competition. It also prohibits negative behaviors such as using profanity, criticizing from the sidelines, engaging in harassment or unsportsmanlike conduct, or interfering with games or practices.
The purpose of the code is to promote sportsmanship, integrity, and a welcoming atmosphere in lacrosse, emphasizing your role in fostering respect, safety, and enjoyment for young athletes rather than just outcomes like winning. This helps ensure the program remains focused on development and positive experiences for everyone involved.
If you do not follow the code, consequences may include warnings, ejection from events, suspensions, or removal from the program, as determined by club leaders. All families sign the code to commit to these standards and agree to the importance of upholding them for the benefit of the club.
