Eligibility
Residency
Middleton Youth Lacrosse adheres to the rostering guidelines of the Badgerland Lacrosse Association (BLA), Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation (WLF), and USA Lacrosse to ensure fair, safe, and geographically appropriate team assignments for youth players. Our policy prioritizes placing players on teams aligned with their residence or school attendance while promoting accessibility for those without local options.
A player is eligible to roster with Middleton Youth Lacrosse if they meet one of the following criteria:
- Resides in the District: The player lives within the boundaries of the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District.
- Attends School in the District: The player attends a public or private school physically located within the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District, regardless of their residence.
- Nearest Available Team: The player resides in a school district without its own youth lacrosse team or established co-op, and the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District is the geographically closest option with an available team.
Proof of residency (e.g., utility bill, lease agreement) or school attendance (e.g., enrollment verification) may be required during registration. Players must roster with Middleton only if it aligns with these rules; violations could result in game forfeitures per BLA guidelines. Exceptions are reviewed by the club board on a case-by-case basis to maintain fairness and compliance.
Age
Age Eligibility Policy
Middleton Youth Lacrosse follows the established eligibility guidelines of the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation (WLF) and USA Lacrosse to promote the game of lacrosse among youth in a safe and sportsmanlike environment. To best achieve this goal, we seek to provide playing opportunities that, as much as possible, establish a "level playing field" among players of similar age, size, and ability.
Age groupings are determined as of August 31 preceding the competition season.
- Boys 8U: All players must be 8 years old or younger on August 31 and 7 years old or older by September 1 preceding competition.
- Boys 10U: All players must be 10 years old or younger on August 31 and 9 years old or older by September 1 preceding competition.
- Boys 12U: All players must be 12 years old or younger on August 31 and 11 years old or older by September 1 preceding competition.
- Boys 14U: All players must be 14 years old or younger on August 31 and 13 years old or older by September 1 preceding competition.
- Girls 10U: All players must be 10 years old or younger on August 31 and 8 years old or older by September 1 preceding competition.
- Girls 12U: All players must be 12 years old or younger on August 31 and 11 years old or older by September 1 preceding competition.
- Girls 14U: All players must be 14 years old or younger on August 31 and 13 years old or older by September 1 preceding competition.
Proof of age (e.g., birth certificate) will be required for verification during registration with USA Lacrosse.
Playing Up
Middleton Youth Lacrosse strictly adheres to age-based groupings as outlined in our eligibility policy and does not permit players to "play up" into an older age group under any circumstances. This rule ensures fair competition, player safety, and balanced development for all participants, in alignment with USA Lacrosse and league guidelines. Requests for exceptions will not be considered.
